Frequently Asked Questions
What amount should I donate
We generally recommend $50USD/month for a blind resident of CHAIN, $30USD/month for a sighted resident of CHAIN, and $25USD/month for a local at-risk child from the community. See the Epiphany Child Sponsorship Program for more.
How is my donation used?
For residents, your gift supplies housing, food, education, and healthcare. For local, at-risk children from surrounding communities, you're covering school fees and their lunchtime meals. See the Current Report for more information!
Does my donation only go to one child?
No, all funds are used to help every child supported by the CHAIN Foundation. This allows all children to receive the necessary aid as well. We do encourage, however, a personal supportive relationship with the child you're paired up with!
May I write to or visit the individual I sponsor?
Yes, you’re encouraged to do both! You may send photos or cards. Occasionally, the U.S. Coordinator, Penny Lalanne (below), will also receive letters from your child, which will be passed on to you.
May I send gifts?
No gifts, please, as they create inequity. However, feel free to make an extra donation for a special occasion.

When the Epiphany Uganda team visits CHAIN, you may send physical gifts to the children at the foundation, including the child you're paired with.
Is my donation tax-deductible in the USA?
Yes, your donation is considered a tax-deductible contribution in the USA through the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. Your gift is used wisely, and every dollar goes extremely far.
Epiphany
Child Sponsorship Program
The CHAIN Foundation is run entirely on donations from friends and organizations to provide comprehensive care for visually impaired, sighted, and community children. Your financial support provides food, healthcare, and counseling services for community children, as well as clothing and shelter for residents of the orphanage.

Our estimated cost for each child per month is:
-
$50 for a visually impaired resident of the CHAIN Orphanage
-
$30 for a sighted resident
-
$25 for an at-risk student from the local community

Thanks to our sponsors, the trajectory of children’s lives has been changed and will continue to change. CHAIN graduates have pursued higher education in vocational, secondary, and technical schools. Some have even continued their education further to the university level. Alongside this, many have begun volunteer work themselves, becoming contributing members of their communities and giving back to those less fortunate.
The Church of the Epiphany
The Church of the Epiphany in Richardson, TX, has played a crucial role in building a special connection between Mukono, Uganda, and Richardson. Through bi-annual mission trips to Mukono, the church has facilitated numerous child sponsorships from its congregation and has collected donations to support the Foundation's work in Uganda.
